Purpose: The purpose of this document is to instruct ITpipes CoreVision users on how to export and import projects to and from CoreVision using ITpipes Connect.
Overview
ITpipes CoreVision enables users to export project records into portable Microsoft Access (.mdb) or ITpipes-compatible database formats for offline work, sharing, or archiving. These files can then be imported back into ITpipes FieldVision.
Note - All the following procedures require ITpipes Connect to be installed. Related article: Installing and Setting up ITpipes Connect
Exporting from CoreVision
Exporting allows you to create a portable version of your inspections, encompassing all related information such as videos, snapshots, and database files. You can also select specific data to keep in order to manage the size of the exported database. This is useful for archiving, sharing with clients, or re-importing later.
How to export from CoreVision
- Make sure ITpipes Connect is installed and running.
- Open your CoreVision site to the project you want to export from.
- Click on the Tools
button on the toolbar.
- Click on the Export
button.
- Select whether you want to export all inspections shown in the current tab or just the selected ones.
- Give it a name and select whether you want a NASSCO or an ITpipes export (these options are explained further below).
- Click on the orange checkmark to confirm.
-
ITpipes Connect will ask which data you want to keep or exclude from the export (images, reports, and/or videos) and where you want to save it (see picture). Select accordingly.
- Click on the checkmark to begin exporting the project to your local machine.
Export Types and Target Use Cases
Both types of exports (ITpipes and NASSCO) save the inspections to an .mdb file. However, while they share the exact same file extension and database engine, their internal tables and schema layouts are completely different:
-
ITpipes Export:
Use Case: Designed for internal ITpipes workflows, offline inspection review, archiving, or transferring project data between ITpipes instances (e.g., between CoreVision, FieldVision, and Connect).
Interoperability: Meant to be read and imported back into ITpipes applications.
-
NASSCO Export:
Use Case: Standardized industry deliverable used for client submittals, external engineering review, regulatory compliance, or third-party asset management imports.
Interoperability: Adheres to cross-platform industry standards so any NASSCO-certified software or GIS/AMS system can ingest it.
Importing to CoreVision
Importing allows you to upload entire projects or inspections onto your CoreVision site, provided they are formatted as an .mdb file that ITpipes can read.
How to import to CoreVision
- Select the type of upload, whether it is a database (.mdb, .db, .db3) or a manhole video (.mp4).
- Browse to the location of your Access (.mdb) file.
- For a folder import, verify that all required media files (.mp4, .jpeg) are found in the folder being imported.
- Select the CoreVision project you want to import to and confirm the import settings.
- Click the checkmark to begin importing.
Troubleshooting Tips
- If you receive an error about missing drivers, ensure that the Microsoft Access Database Engine is installed (matching your system architecture).
- If the login fails, verify that the user account exists in CoreVision and has access to the correct projects.
- If media does not appear after importing, confirm that video files are located in the correct folder structure alongside the .mdb file and that the database is not under an M365/OneDrive folder structure.
- If the import or export fails or finishes with missing data, try uploading/downloading in smaller batches.
- In the case of an error stating "Export failed: Error converting value {null} (...)", verify that Connect is running on the latest available version and update it if possible.
When to call support
Unresolved Database Upsert Errors: The log displays persistent
Error upserting assetorError upserting observationmessages that do not resolve upon retrying.API / Authentication Failures: Connect reports
Error pinging ITpipes Web API. Please verify credentials, and your CoreVision URL, credentials, and network connection are verified to be working in a standard web browser.Critical / Unhandled Exceptions: The sync terminates prematurely with messages like
Critical error during synchronizationorUnhandled error from..., leaving incomplete logs or partially transferred datasets.
