What is an ITpipes Template?

ITpipes is configurable and provides the option for a client to define their Template. The template is used inside ITpipes for data collection and includes the “form” and "inputs to the form", with required fields, set up details and more.  Many factors can affect what template is used and/or how the template is configured.  For example, if data is transferring between GIS/AMS and ITpipes, the ITpipes template and GIS/AMS template fields and inputs will need to match.  If a compliance standard is used, there are often specific mandates that can stop configuration of the standard.

While a custom client template is highly configurable, if a client does not have a specific template in mind, there are 3 basic default options a user can start with to simplify template selection.  Each default template has varying degrees of configuration, based on that standard. If you do have a specific template or form to be used, please plan to provide details of that to ITpipes.

Option 1: SPICAP - Sewer Pipeline Inspection Coding Assessment Program is a system that users can customize.  SPICAP has a user-friendly code set, based on 7 basic principles of pipeline assessment (the following have been taken directly from the SPICAP website. More info can be found here. SPICAP also has an overall pipeline rating to help address overall system maintenance and/or structure repair.

  1. Common Text/Others: Describes common events not accounted for in other groups.

  2. Pipe Defects: Describes structural and infiltration events.

  3. Operations & Maintenance Issues: Describes maintenance related events.

  4. Service Tap Connections: Describes house connections.

  5. Service Laterals: Describes defective house connections.

  6. Grade Alignment: Describes changes in pipe direction or alignment.

  7. Lidar/Laser/Sonar (specific to MSI): Describes Laser and/or Sonar related events.

SPICAP can be provided to clients at no cost (and via an Excel spreadsheet) inside ITpipes, however the catalog itself and/or customizing the catalog should be done through the website.

Option 2: IT2 - ITpipes standard template that includes an intuitive observation code description set. This template is highly flexible and configurable with options to add/remove data fields, customize drop-downs including adding or removing inputs, determine required fields, and modify, add or remove observation code descriptions.

Option 3: NASSCO PACP 6- NASSCO’s Pipeline Assessment Certification Program is a standardized training system that users can attend online to learn about pipe coding and obtain certification.  More info can be found here. This system has many standard and required fields that are not configurable; it does have 10 additional customizable fields. ITpipes does have a contract with NASSCO and we are unable to modify non-configurable fields. ITpipes does highly recommend users attend NASSCO PACP training to use this compliance system.

Option 4: NASSCO PACP 7- NASSCO’s Pipeline Assessment Certification Program is a standardized training system that users can attend online to learn about pipe coding and obtain certification, version 7 is the most current version of NASSCO PACP as of 1/1/2020.  More info can be found here. This system does provide overall pipe ratings for each inspection. This system has many standard and required fields that are not configurable; it does have 10 additional customizable fields. ITpipes does have a contract with NASSCO and we are unable to modify non-configurable fields. ITpipes does highly recommend users attend NASSCO PACP training to use this compliance system.
