Setting Video Capture to SVideo with VLC Media Player

Setting Video Capture to SVideo with VLC Media Player

ITpipes Mobile assumes using a Composite connection and does not have the option in config to switch to SVideo. If you need to switch for a Mobile user, VLC can be used to do so.

Step 1.
Open VLC, and go to Media -> Open Capture Device... as you would normally do when opening the stream in VLC.

Step 2.
Set the recording devices as usual, and then select the Advanced Properties... button. Check the two boxes labeled Device Properties and Tuner Properties.

Step 3.
Before displaying the stream, it will give you a few extra prompts. The defaults here should be fine until you get to a Properties window with a Crossbar tab. Here, for the Video in, switch the option from Composite to SVideo and continue through the prompts.

If a feed is coming through SVideo, it should be showing in VLC at this point. This will automatically adjust the default in Windows, and from this point on Mobile should be able to see it. Make sure to test the video feed in Mobile by closing VLC first and then checking the Video Settings window.
