ITpipes Web - import an existing video

How do I import an existing video and create inspections with an observation?

The instructions below will show you how to do this using ITpipes Web.

Adding an asset

To add an asset, select , located below the toolbar.


Adding an inspection

To add an inspection to an asset, select , located next to the date selection drop down.


Uploading a Video

Note: The video, that is to be uploaded, will need to be h264/mp4 format in order to work in ITpipes Web.

  1. To upload a video, select , located next to “Upload Video”.

  2. Browse to the location that the video resides. Note: The videos will need to be in H264 codec format to be able to be played in ITpipes Web.

  3. Select on the browse window to begin uploading the video.

Adding a Snapshot

  1. To add a snapshot to an observation. Select the observation.

  2. Select below the media controls. A new snapshot will be added to the selected observation.

Media controls (Navigating Through the Video)

Video Controls

The Inspection Viewer allows several ways to navigate while reviewing a video. Some of these options also have keyboard shortcuts. 

Video Slider Bar

The slider bar can be moved to any position of the video.

Volume Control

To control the volume of the video playback move the slider to the desired volume.

Select to mute the sound on the video playback.

Review Buttons

- Skips back 10 seconds of the video.

- Skips back 5 seconds. 

- Decreases the speed of the video playback down to .5x

- Plays the video playback. This icon will switch between play and pause.

- Pauses the video playback. This icon will switch between play and pause.

- Increases the speed of video playback up to 4x

- Skips ahead 5 seconds.

- Skips ahead 10 seconds

Keyboard Shortcuts

Note: In order for the keyboard shortcuts to work the video will need to be selected.

- Left arrow: Skips the video back 5 seconds.

- Right arrow: Skips the video forward 5 seconds.

- Up arrow: Increases the speed of video playback up to 4x

- Down arrow: Decreases the speed of the video playback down to .5x

- Space Bar: Plays or pauses the video playback.

Edit Observation Information

The Inspection View allows the ability to add an observation, edit the observations that have been made, or delete an observation. Any modification to the observations will have the validation fields for QA/QC. To cancel any modifications, select .

Add an Observation

  1. To add an observation, select , located on the top portion of the observation area.

  2. To achieve desired codes, select Family, Group, Descriptor, and Modifier options from the individual drop downs.

  3. Input the distance of the observation in the distance field.

  4. Input From clock position, To clock position, Value 1st dimension, Value 2nd dimension, Value Percent, Joint, and Continuous. Note: These options are per code and will change with each code. Required fields are marked with a red asterisk.

  5. Input remarks if desired.

  6. Select Severity. Select one of the options from the drop down. 


  1. Input information into the reason field.

  2. Once completed select to save the observation. Note: The snapshot that will be taken, will be from the video’s current location.

Modify an Observation

  1. To modify an observation, select the observation and select .

  2. Make desired modifications.

  3. Select the severity and input the reason for QA/QC.

  4. Once completed, select to save the modification. 


Delete an Observation 

  1. To delete an observation, select the observation.
